Diligence that shows its work.
Every rule, every source, every signature.
Law-Lite reads a matter's documents, checks them against Indian company, FEMA, stamp and competition law, and says for every rule whether it passed, failed, did not apply — or could not be checked, and why. Search answers cite the section they rest on. Nothing leaves the machine it runs on.
Diligence tools are confident. Diligence isn't.
A checklist that turns green because nothing said "no" is the most dangerous output a diligence tool can produce.
"Not found" reads as "fine"
A missing PAS-3 and a PAS-3 that was filed late both leave a blank. Most tools can't tell you which.
Absence of evidence is scored as compliance.
Answers without sources
A fluent paragraph about section 42 is worthless if nobody can see which words of the Act it came from.
Uncited answers can't be checked, so they can't be relied on.
Client files leave the building
Cloud AI means sending share purchase agreements and board minutes to someone else's servers.
For most firms that ends the conversation.
Four things, done honestly.
A six-stage compliance pipeline
Upload a matter's documents. Six stages classify them, extract the facts each rule needs, validate them, analyse the deal and check every in-scope rule. Each rule gets one of four outcomes, with its reason and the rulebook version it was judged against.
A gate before the lawyer's workspace
A matter opens for analysis only when the pre-check has cleared it. What no document can settle — stamp paper, say — a named lawyer accepts, with a reason, in the audit log. The report is a draft until an attorney signs it off in their own name.
Search and a Library that cite
Ask a question; get the sections and judgments it rests on, and an answer whose every sentence links to a source the model actually read. Describe an issue in plain words; the Library lists the law that governs it.
Litigation routes, gaps first
For a cheque-dishonour or insolvency matter, the workspace lays out each route — its elements, what the file supports, the gaps, the pre-suit steps, the forum and the limitation — before anyone files.
One box. Local models. A hash-chained record.
The web front and the API run behind a reverse proxy on a single on-premises GPU server. Models run locally; every consequential action is appended to a tamper-evident audit chain.
An honest feature matrix.
| Capability | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Matters and the pipeline | ||
| Create a matter; upload PDF, Word, Excel, images, ZIP | Built | Scanned pages are read with OCR. Unreadable ZIP members are named, not dropped. |
| Six-stage pipeline: classify, extract, validate, analyse, check, deliver | Built | A seven-document round runs end to end in about four minutes. |
| Pipeline starts on upload | Partial | Starts when a lawyer presses Start, by design; auto-start is a setting to add. |
| Compliance | ||
| Four outcomes per rule, with reasons | Built | "Could not check" is never counted as a pass. |
| Rulebook: Companies Act, FEMA, stamp, competition | Partial | 120+ Indian rules, each scoped to the companies and events it binds. Drafted from published sources; marked UNVERIFIED until a practising lawyer reviews them. |
| Workspace gate, named acceptances, report sign-off | Built | Every acceptance and signature is in the hash-chained audit log. |
| Practice areas | Partial | Venture capital, company secretarial, cheque dishonour and insolvency today; six more planned. |
| Search and Library | ||
| Hybrid retrieval over statute, rules, judgments and the firm's own files | Built | Named sections are found first ("section 138 of the NI Act"). |
| Cited answers, and which sources the model read | Built | Sentences that cite nothing are removed and counted, or the answer is withheld. |
| Library: describe an issue, get the governing law | Built | Optional judgments, labelled "good law unverified". |
| Answer coverage | Partial | About six in seven test questions get a written answer; the rest show their sources and say why no answer was written. |
| Litigation | ||
| Routes for cheque dishonour, IBC s.7 and s.9, breach of contract | Built | Elements, gaps, pre-suit steps, forum and limitation, read against the file. |
| Case journey and document links | Built | Links suggested by the machine are marked as suggestions until a person asserts them. |
| Drafting pleadings | Roadmap | Built behind the gate; not offered until reviewed. |
| Trust and deployment | ||
| Per-matter access; lawyer, intake and admin roles | Built | A matter outside your scope is "not found", never "forbidden". |
| Local models only; no client text leaves the machine | Built | A non-local model endpoint is refused before anything is sent. |
| Air-gapped installer (offline model bundle) | Roadmap | Designed; the one-time install needs a registry today. |
What comes next.
Next
- Lawyer review of the rulebook — every rule moves from UNVERIFIED to REVIEWED, with the reviewer named.
- A vector database (pgvector) behind the existing search interface.
- Pipeline auto-start on upload, as a per-firm setting.
Later
- Six more practice areas, each added only when the previous ones run end to end.
- The offline installer — models, app and corpus from one signed bundle.
- Drafting, released route by route after review.
Your clients' documents stay on your hardware.
Law-Lite runs on one on-premises GPU server. The language model and the embedding model are local; the law corpus is fetched once and refreshed on a schedule.
One server
Web front, API, database and models on a single machine under a process manager, behind a reverse proxy with a strict content-security policy.
No outbound client data
Every model call is checked against a local-endpoint rule before any text is sent. Search, extraction and answers all run on the box.
Upgrades that verify
Each release is deployed and then checked on the live system: compliance results before and after, search quality against fixed question sets, and the Library's floors.

The demo is the actual product on its own server, with synthetic matters: a Series B round that clears every check, and a cheque-dishonour claim laid out before filing. Sign-in PINs come with your invitation.
